Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

JIGOE ("we", "us", "the Platform") provides school management software to secondary schools. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers School Admins, Teachers, and Students who use JIGOE, and the parents/guardians whose children's data a school enters into the system. Each school that uses JIGOE is the "data controller" for its own students' and staff's information — JIGOE acts as the technical platform (a "data processor") on the school's behalf.

2. What we collect

  • Account information: name, username/email, role, and school affiliation.
  • Student records: admission number, gender, classroom assignment, attendance, continuous assessment scores, exam results, behavioral ratings, and report card data entered by teachers.
  • Photos: profile photos and school logos, uploaded by users and stored via our media provider (Cloudinary).
  • Communications: messages sent between staff members through the in-app messaging feature.
  • Technical data: login timestamps and basic usage activity, used for security and troubleshooting.

3. Why we collect it

Solely to operate the core functions of a school management system: enrolling students, recording attendance and grades, generating report cards, and enabling staff communication. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.

4. Where data is stored

Application data is hosted on Render. Uploaded images (photos, logos, signatures) are stored via Cloudinary. Both providers may process data outside your country; we rely on their standard security and data protection practices.

5. Who can see what

Students can see their own results, attendance, and profile. Teachers can see data for classes and subjects they're assigned to. School Admins can see all data belonging to their own school. Schools cannot see each other's data — every school's records are isolated within the platform.

6. Data retention

Student and staff records are retained for as long as a school maintains an active account, plus a reasonable period afterward for academic record-keeping (e.g. former students needing transcripts). A school administrator may request deletion of specific records or their full account by contacting us.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. Students and parents should contact their School Admin first, since the school controls the underlying records; School Admins can contact us directly for platform-level requests.

8. Children's data

JIGOE is used by secondary schools and necessarily processes data belonging to minors, entered and managed by school staff on behalf of the school. We rely on the school's authority (as the data controller) to have the appropriate basis and parental consent, where required, for entering student information into the platform.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy can be directed to your school's administrator, or to the platform operator via the contact details provided on the main site.
